All of us need taking care of (and some of us more than others!). And of course, the same applies to your glasses. We want you to look your best and we want our glasses to last. That's why we're offering these simple tips to help keep your glasses in tip-top condition... Read on, you'll soon be an expert!
As your mum would say: don't leave your stuff lying around.
Your car dashboard, a towel on the beach or your central heating radiator are certainly not recommended places for leaving your glasses. Cellulose acetate is a malleable material, which moulds when hot. That means that too much heat can deform your glasses. So bear that in mind.
It's better to do it right than force ir. When taking off your glasses, use both hands to avoid distoting the frame. You can also take them off by pulling them across the bridge of your nose. We know it's obvious, but wanted to remind just in case...
Use both hands. Always.
When you're not wearing your glasses, the best place to store them is IN THE CASE. Leaving them lying around in your bag or backpack is not a good idea unless you want to risk them getting out of shape to becoming scratched. Your glasses case is there to be used.
Most accidents happen when glasses are left in the unfolded position. Our frames are designed to fold the right first and then the left. Do it like that and they will thank you in the long run. Look after your glasses every day
Always, always use a chamois cloth.
We're not going to make any obvious jokes, but protection is always important. An old T-shirt or kitchen towel are NOT what you should be cleaning your glasses with - no matter how soft they may appear. Your lenses have been treated to be scratch-resistant, but not let's put that too far to the test.
You wouldn't leave your fridge door open, would you? By the same token, it's best not to leave your glasses unfolded. Even the strongest material suffers from wear and tear. If this happens, remember we offer to recondition and repair services in all our stores.
